Phantom Limb

April 25, 2016

“Phantom limb,” is a surreal representation of the body dysmorphia faced with an amputation. I wanted to discuss how my general sense of self is affected by feelings of intrigue, vulnerability, and the stereotypes attributed to my, and many other “disabled” bodies. In other words, as an amputee I’m trying not to fall into that archetype of being just a source of inspiration or an object of pity, but rather, allow myself to be an individual beyond what is associated with my body.
